The next golden age of film is coming.

The next generation of movies is coming, and it's coming faster than anyone could have ever realized. As a lifelong film buff, this is one of the most exciting times I've ever lived in, and I want to be part of the catalyst that brings the next golden age of film to the world. AI has the power to reshape not just the way films are made, but who gets to decide what gets made in the first place. For decades, a handful of Hollywood studios have monopolized the industry I love and reaped billions doing it. It might not be obvious at first, but every single movie or show you've ever watched exists because someone at the top decided it was worth making. I fundamentally disagree with that. Film should be freeing. It should bring people together through a collective love of the art, not get filtered through a boardroom.

AI is a democratizing technology, bringing thousands if not millions of people the ability to create movies on their own in the coming year, without having to rely on big Hollywood budgets. This means we are about to see the single greatest shift the industry has ever seen, and the creation of a brand new profession: AI director. Yes, a full profession. Not a hobby or a side hustle, but a truly new collection of filmmaking methods. Any young director right now should feel the rush of possibility, excited for the opportunity to finally bring their vision to reality.

I hear the same worry all the time: if anyone can make a movie now, then what makes it special? It couldn't be more wrong. At the end of the day, AI is just a tool like any other, and there will be people who make amazing things with it while others cannot. The only thing AI is democratizing is access, not execution. Gordon Ramsay can walk into a kitchen full of ingredients and make a three Michelin star meal, while I'd fumble around and barely manage a bowl of cereal in that same kitchen. What AI gives people is the pots, the pans, the spatula, the oven. You still need a true creative to make something worth watching. AI isn't taking over. It's handing the tools to people who were always meant to create and never had the chance.

Funny enough, the perfect metaphor for this comes from my favorite animated movie, Ratatouille. It follows the life of a common rat named Remy, who has real talent for food and cooking but is just that, a rat, never meant for more because he wasn't born into a situation that would let him succeed. Meanwhile, the legacy of a great chef gets torn apart by Ego, the film's villain, a critic who despises the motto “anyone can cook.” It's only at the very end, when Ego tastes a dish made by this common garden rat and is brought to tears by it, that he finally understands the truth:

That truth sits at the heart of everything I'm trying to build. Even the greatest directors, the Tarantinos, the Scorseses, the Nolans, came from backgrounds that gave them the ability to chase their dream in the first place. That isn't to say it was easy or handed to them. It takes real passion and ambition to become one of the greats. But some people simply never get that luxury, no matter how much talent they have. My goal with this platform is to find the Remys of the world, the true artists who can finally pursue their passion through a technology that never existed before now. I want to watch them grow and connect them with the bookworms who never got to see their favorite stories make it to the big screen, and with the authors who have tirelessly waited, passed up by Hollywood over and over, for the chance to see their book become a movie reality. The chance to make their Dream a reality, and hopefully, we make a little magic along the way.
