Terms of Service

Dream is operated by Alejandro Ortega (“Dream,” “we,” “us”). You can reach us at alejandro.ortega@dreamfilm.app. These Terms govern your use of dreamfilm.app and any related services (the “Platform”).

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Platform. By creating an account or pledging credits, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that you can enter into a binding contract under the laws of your jurisdiction.

You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for any activity on your account. If you suspect unauthorized access, contact us immediately. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms or that we believe pose a risk to the Platform or its users.

Credits are a digital, in-platform unit used to back projects and unlock content. Credits are not real-world currency, are not redeemable for cash, and have no resale value outside the Platform. Credit purchases are processed by Stripe; final pricing, taxes, and currency conversion are shown at checkout.

Credit purchases are non-refundable except where required by law or where we determine, at our discretion, that a refund is warranted (for example, a duplicate charge or a clear payment processing error). Credits expire only as stated in your account or as required by law.

Pledges represent your support for a project moving through its funding, competition, and production phases. When you pledge, your credits are committed to that project. Once a project advances past the funding phase, pledges are non-withdrawable except as specifically described in the project page or required by law.

If a project fails to advance, expires, or is cancelled, we will return your committed credits to your account balance. We may also adjust balances to correct demonstrable errors.

You retain ownership of the project proposals, comments, ratings, and other material you submit (“User Content”). By submitting User Content, you grant Dream a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute that content for the purposes of operating and promoting the Platform.

You represent that you have the rights to submit your User Content and that it does not infringe any third-party rights or violate any law. We may remove User Content that breaches these Terms or that we determine, at our discretion, is harmful, deceptive, or illegal.

Filmmakers and creators (“Filmmakers”) who win the creator-competition phase enter a separate written contract with Dream that governs delivery milestones, payouts, and the ownership of the finished work. Until that contract is signed, no rights to the underlying intellectual property are transferred.

For projects derived from third-party books, comics, or other IP, Dream secures licenses directly from the rights holder. Submitting a project does not authorize you to upload material you do not have the right to use.

You agree not to:

• Use the Platform for any unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive purpose.
• Manipulate votes, like counts, or funding totals, including via multiple accounts.
• Upload material you do not have the right to use, or that is defamatory, harassing, or hateful.
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise interfere with the Platform's technical operation.
• Attempt to bypass payment processing or to monetize credits outside the Platform.

The Platform is provided “as is” and “as available.” Dream makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the Platform, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that any project will be completed, released, or perform commercially.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dream and its officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits or revenues, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Platform. Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim related to the Platform is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars.

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close your account if you breach these Terms, if we are required to do so by law, or if we discontinue the Platform. Closure does not entitle you to a refund of credits already used; unused credit balances at closure are governed by Section 4.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice on the Platform at least seven days before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
